Professional Guest Speaker: Maisam Darabi

Biography: Prior to his accounting career, Maisam completed a Mechanical Engineering degree at theUniversity of Tehran. Maisam moved to Edmonton in 2011 and completed his studies at the U of L Edmonton campus. Since then, Maisam was the president of of the University of Lethbridge Accounting Club – Edmonton Campus, encouraging other students to also get involved. He also served as the CPA Ambassador for the
Edmonton Campus. Also during his second degree in accounting, he did multiple co-op terms at Imperial Oil as a Project Accountant and Tax Audit Analyst. He also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (doing business as PwC) in Calgary preparing both Canadian and US tax returns for expats. He is currently employed by Collins Barrow LLP as a CPA Staff Accountant and he is aiming towards his CPA designation.
